About

Hi! I'm Susie.
As a scientific visual communicator, I translate complex scientific concepts into engaging and accessible visuals. My work combines research, design, and storytelling; ensuring accuracy while making information approachable for a range of audiences.
My background in scientific visualization began with sketching California’s plant and wildlife, sparking an interest in how visuals can enhance learning complex subjects. I pursued this at California State University Long Beach, where I developed technical skills in anatomical illustration, animation, and 3D modeling. While earning my Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization at University of Illinois at Chicago, I explored how interactive media can create an immersive learning experience.
Professionally, I've collaborated with researchers, clinicians, engineeers, and cross-functional teams to develop research figures, animations, branding materials, and other strategic communications. I thrive on the collaborative creative process and enjoy the problem-solving involved in scientific visual communication, whether it's learning something new for a complex project or developing new technical skills to deliver the best result.
If you’re interested in working together on a project, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out at susiehammons4@gmail.com.
